Brisbane Airport Master Plan

The 2003 Brisbane Airport Master Plan articulates Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Limited's (BAC) vision for achievement at Brisbane Airport over the next 20 years. It is not about detail and is not an approval or development application for major airport works, and, although it builds on more than 30 years of valuable prior planning, BAC will continue to seek and make improvements wherever possible.

Brisbane Airport is perfectly postioned to fulfil its role as a premier gateway airport and as a hub for connections to Asia and the major cities of the World. The Airport's strategic advantages include 2700 ha of land, new facilities, proximity to the CBD, excellent transport links and an enviable buffer zone between the Airport and residential areas.

BAC's vision is to build on these advantages and create a business environment known as Brisbane Airport City.

The Airports Act 1996 which regulates the Master Plan process for Brisbane Airport, requires BAC to review its Master Plan every five years. This review requires BAC to invite public comment on a Preliminary Draft Master Plan over a 90 day period. The 90 day period for the 2003 Master Plan process ended on 11 December 2003 and BAC thanks those members of the public and those organisations which provided valuable feedback on the 2003 Brisbane Airport Preliminary Draft Master Plan - Draft for Public Comment. BAC carefully considered those submissions in developing a 2003 Brisbane Airport Draft Master Plan for submission to the Minister for Transport. This Draft Master Plan was approved in May 2004.

 Brisbane Airport Environment Strategy

The 2004 Brisbane Airport Environment Strategy (AES) outlines the environmental programs Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) and other airport users will undertake from 2004 to 2009.

The inaugural AES was endorsed in April 1999 by the Commonwealth Minister for the Department of Transport and Regional Services and in accordance with the Airports Act 1996, the AES must be reviewed every five years. After a comprehensive stakeholder consultation phase, the 2004 AES was approved by the Commonwealth Minister for the Department of Transport and Regional Services on 7 June 2004.

The purpose of the Landscape Guidelines is to provide a minimum set of standards that shall be applied

  • Support the aims of the Airport Landscape Masterplan.
  • Satisfy the aims and objectives of the BAC Development Control Plan.
  • Ensure landscape issues are considered early in the design process.
  • Provide a minimum and consistent set of parameters for both BAC and outside designers to follow.
