Major Development Plans

Certain types of development are defined in section 89 of the Airports Act 1996 as being ‘major airport development’. Before undertaking such development, airports must prepare and publicly exhibit for comment a draft Major Development Plan (MDP). The Minister for Infrastructure and Transport is the consent authority for MDPs.

 

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) identifies when a MDP is required, assists in the preparation of the MDP and manages the process with the client and Commonwealth, State and Local Government.

Direct Factory Outlet extension – Approved MDP

The draft Major Development Plan for the DFO extension was released for the 60 business day public comment period in accordance with the requirements of the Airports Act 1996 (Cth).On 17 December 2013, the Honourable Warren Truss, Minster for Infrastructure and Regional Development approved the Major Development Plan for the DFO extension.

Brisbane Charter Terminal – Approved MDP

The Draft Major Development Plan for the Brisbane Charter Terminal was released for the 60 business day public comment period in accordance with the requirements of the Airports Act 1996 (Cth). On 18 December 2013, the Honourable Warren Truss, Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development approved the Major Development Plan for the Brisbane Charter Terminal.

Commercial Office Development

Brisbane Airport Corporation Limited (BAC) submits this draft Major Development Plan for a proposed Commercial Office Development within Airport Village (Skygate), Brisbane Airport.

 

The project adds commercial office space which will support business and employment growth in Airport Village.  As a commercial and multi story office building, the office space will supplement the existing mix of commercial, retail and community uses in Airport Village as the airport’s major centre.

 

The draft Major Development Plan for the proposed Commercial Office Development has been prepared under the Airports Act 1996 (Cth) and is available for public comment for a period of 60 business days.The draft Major Development Plan will be available on the website for public comment until close of business 19 March 2014.
