25/09/2009
Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Limited (BAC) has today announced the appointment of current BAC Director and former South Bank Corporation CEO Bill Grant as Chairman.
Mr Grant, who replaces interim Chairman John Ward, has more than 40 years experience in property development, place management, local government and project management.
Mr Grant’s appointment is part of the renewal of the BAC leadership team, including the recent appointment of CEO & Managing Director, Julieanne Alroe, which will oversee the next phase of growth and development.
“This is an exciting time for BAC and I am honoured to be taking a leadership role in its future,” Mr Grant said.
“BAC not only manages one of the country’s busiest and most efficient airports, it is creating and managing a thriving commercial and business precinct.
“Our key focus will be to consolidate the growth, continue to drive efficiencies for our airlines and partners, and maintain our commitment to delivering critical aviation infrastructure when it is needed and where it is needed.”
Ms Alroe welcomed Mr Grant’s appointment, saying his proven experience in creating world-class property and entertainment precincts would be crucial in contributing to the strategic vision and leadership for BAC’s future.
“Our goal is to consolidate Brisbane’s reputation as a world-leading airport,” Ms Alroe said.
“Bill Grant is the right person to lead BAC through this next phase of expansion and change. With our significant infrastructure, retail and property portfolio, BAC requires a broad set of business and property skills.”
Bill Grant currently holds a number of board and advisory board positions, including the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and New Hope Corporation Limited.
Mr Grant has resigned from his position as Chairman of the Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA) to devote more time and energy to his new role at BAC.
Mr Grant has previously been CEO of South Bank Corporation and Newcastle City Council.
