Tiger roars into Brisbane with new Adelaide services
09/11/2009
Brisbane Airport has welcomed today’s new announcement from Tiger Airways to start services from Adelaide to Brisbane as part of its network expansion.
Tiger Airways will offer daily flights between Adelaide and Brisbane commencing Sunday 28 March 2010, with fares from just $98* and seats are on sale today.
Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) CEO and Managing Director Julieanne Alroe welcomed Tiger’s new services, saying the airline will make a big impression on Brisbane’s domestic service offerings.
“Tiger’s arrival at Brisbane Airport will be great for passengers, offering more choice, and generating greater competition and ultimately lower airfares,” Ms Alroe said.
“The new services will also benefit our local tourism and business industry, with South Australia being the third largest domestic visitor market for South East Queensland.”
More than 224,000 people visited South East Queensland from South Australia over the last financial year.
“Furthermore, Tiger will arrive in Brisbane just in time to take advantage of Brisbane Airport’s new and improved road network, offering greater capacity and better connections to the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, cementing Brisbane Airport position as Queensland’s gateway airport.”
Today’s new services follow last week’s announcement from Tiger to start its first flights to Brisbane, from Melbourne, commencing in March 2010 with fares from $88*.
“These two recent announcements show a strong commitment from Tiger to build its operations out of Queensland, which will provide a welcome boost to our local economy,” Ms Alroe said.
“BAC is looking forward to working closely with Tiger Airways in the future to grow the network and develop new opportunities for the airline to ensure a strong and sustainable future.”
