We introduced the green Containers for Change bins in 2021 at the Domestic Terminal for passengers to recycle cans and bottles, with collection locations increasing over the years to include the International Terminal and Skygate precincts. All recycling proceeds are currently being donated to The Moreton Bay Foundation, enabling action for a thriving and healthy Moreton Bay to benefit nature and people.
Last year we were able to donate $36,000 to Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee, and $23,000 to The Pyjama Foundation through this program.
The Oscar smart recycling assistant is now in operation at the Domestic Terminal and Skygate, helping our passengers and customers to boost recycling through gamification. We were the first airport in Australia to implement these smart, touch-free artificial intelligence waste stations, with the aim of increasing the amount of waste diverted from landfill and providing public education regarding waste reduction.
