Sustainability Initiatives

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has a strong focus on sustainability, with a number of initiatives implemented over the years to reduce our impact, encouraging sustainable and responsible growth while supporting our communities. 

Our Sustainability Journey 

Brisbane Airport has a history of achievements in sustainability. We recognise that being a leader in sustainability means constantly challenging ourselves to create the best future possible for BNE. 

Our current commitments include: 

• Net Zero (scope 1 and 2) by 2025 
• Zero operational waste to landfill by 2030 (excluding quarantine/sterile area waste) 
• 50% recycled water target by 2030
• Signatory to the Clean Skies For Tomorrow initiative to contribute to global production of 10% 
• Sustainable Aviation Fuel by 2030. 

Our achievements to-date provide the foundation for our commitment, as we continue to aspire to create a sustainable, world-leading airport city that future generations trust and are proud of.
