Geoff Wattie often describes himself as a butler on wheels. As a chauffeur with limousine service Limoso, he has been known to pick up bread and milk for passengers flying into BNE, provide some of Brisbane’s best impromptu tours, and once even roadied for a musician. Whatever it takes to make sure each and every passenger gets to and from the airport safely, securely and in style.
After a 20-year stint as a banker, Geoff’s vivacious personality and hunger for a more dynamic work environment drove him to transition to the world of chauffeuring. The opening airport scene of the movie Love Actually is how he aptly describes his now bustling, and often-emotional, world of arrivals and departures.
Since starting his engine with Limoso in 2015, Geoff has had more than 26,000 passengers ride in the leather-rich interior of his Mercedes Benz V250 — from Hollywood’s glitterati to Brisbane’s business influencers.
“One of the best perks of the job is meeting so many different people from all walks of life. Not everyone can say they’ve had conversations with famous actors and up-and-coming musicians in the same day,” he said.
As a result of his constant driving, Geoff has learned all the tricks of the trade. His sought-after “rabbit-runs” have him making more trips to and from BNE’s busy terminals in a month than most people make in a lifetime.
“I know Brisbane like the back of my hand — something that has proven to be very valuable when making a last minute dash to the airport if someone has spent too much time packing.”
Geoff has carried every emotion in the back of his car — the anticipation of a romantic reunion, the excitement that comes with arriving in a new city, and the sadness of a final farewell. Needless to say, tissues are one of his glove-box essentials!
No matter how many airport pick-ups Geoff makes, he never tires of hearing the same heart-warming words when locals first land: ‘It’s so good to be home’.
Brisbane Airport's connection to our community runs deep.
