Brisbane Airport as you know it is undergoing a $5 billion transformation as part of its exciting Future BNE project. While construction is underway, the airport will continue to connect millions of passengers as Australia’s third largest airport, but you will notice some changes to the passenger experience while we create a more efficient flight experience for the future.
The Domestic Terminal upgrades are scheduled for completion by Christmas 2025 and will mean an improved airport experience including:
- A more efficient and safer security screening experience, thanks to the installation of state-of-the-art equipment allowing you to leave most items in your bag
- Direct access from the Skywalk to the Domestic Terminal for checked-in passengers with carry-on baggage
- Over 1,700 new parking bays offering passengers a safe and secure place to leave their vehicle, protected from the elements—just a short distance to the Domestic Terminal
To ensure you have a smooth journey while these upgrades are in progress we’ve worked with Jetstar to create this guide for passengers. Remember to allow extra time as your journey to your boarding gate will take longer than usual.
Changes for Jetstar passengers at a glance:
- New check in and bag drop location: There is a new temporary check in and bag drop facility for Jetstar passengers departing Brisbane Airport’s Domestic Terminal. Look out for Jetstar’s iconic orange star—you can’t miss it!
- New security screening point: There is a new temporary security screening point for departing Jetstar passengers
- Airport kiosks: Will be replaced with new bag tag kiosks. These allow you to print your bag tags if you have checked baggage, but they no longer have the functionality to allow you to check in and print your boarding pass
- Checking in: Where possible, we recommend you check in via the Jetstar app or website, and download your mobile boarding pass before you arrive at the airport. Online check-in opens 48 hours before your flight and closes 40 minutes before departure
- Checked baggage: To receive a baggage tag to check in your baggage, you will need to scan your mobile boarding pass at one of Jetstar’s new bag tag kiosks.
Before you arrive
Plan your transport to the terminal and allow time to find Jetstar check in and security screening. You can check in via the Jetstar app or website before arriving and save your digital boarding pass to your phone. Online check-in opens 48 hours before your flight and closes 40 minutes before departure.
Departure from BNE
Once you’ve arrived it’s important to head to the northern end of the Domestic Terminal due the construction barrier in the centre of the terminal. Look for the signage for Jetstar and Qantas passengers.
From the car park or Airtrain, walk to the end of the Skywalk and turn left taking the escalator down to level 1 (there’s also a lift if needed).
If you’re getting dropped off by car, it’s best to use Zone 1 (light blue) to Zone 3 (dark blue) at the beginning of the Pick-up and Drop-off road.
If you’re unable to check in online or have requested specific assistance: head straight to Jetstar’s new temporary check-in/bag-drop facility and speak to their team who will be available to help if needed.
